BMW's M2 model is set to receive a significant update for 2027, with the introduction of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, the M2 xDrive. Under the hood, the 2027 M2 xDrive will house BMW's robust twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, delivering an impressive 473 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine will be exclusively mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. While the traditional rear-wheel-drive M2 will continue to offer a manual gearbox option, the xDrive version focuses on maximizing acceleration and traction.

The addition of all-wheel drive dramatically improves the M2's acceleration figures. The M2 xDrive is projected to sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 3.6 seconds, a 0.3-second improvement over its rear-wheel-drive counterpart. With a one-foot rollout, this time further drops to an astonishing 3.3 seconds. The vehicle can reach 124 mph in just 12.8 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, which can be extended to 177 mph with the optional M Driver's Package.
