Additionally, Alex Blavatnik, Vice Chairman of Access Industries and Director of the Blavatnik Archive, will be honored with the City Parks Foundation Icon Award. Kickstarting the Season: Early Summer Highlights

The SummerStage season commences with a bang, featuring a variety of performances across different genres. On Saturday, May 30th, Central Park will host Dance Gavin Dance, The Fall of Troy, and Wolf and the Bear at 5:30 PM for a benefit concert. The following Saturday, June 6th, Of The Trees, Jade Cicada, Chmura, and Snuffy will take the Central Park stage at 4:00 PM, also as a benefit. Early June will also see several free Metropolitan Opera Summer Recitals, featuring Tessa McQueen, Lonwabo Mose, Alex McKissick, and Mariam Bombrun, as part of Carnegie Hall's 'United in Sound: America at 250' festival. These recitals will be held at Williamsbridge Oval on Monday, June 8th, and Socrates Sculpture Park on Wednesday, June 10th, both starting at 6:00 PM and 5:00 PM respectively. The opening night on Wednesday, June 10th, at Central Park, will feature Ledisi for Dinah, Spilata, and DJ Kultured Child, presented in association with Blue Note Jazz Festival and the Subaru Music Series.

Yellowcard, New Found Glory, and Plain White Ts will perform at Central Park on Thursday, June 11th, at 5:00 PM as part of the Subaru Music Series. The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital series continues with free performances at Jackie Robinson Park on Friday, June 12th, and a yet-to-be-announced park on Staten Island. Central Park will host The Martinez Brothers, Wakyin, and Luna Mar for a benefit show on Saturday, June 13th, at 6:00 PM. Emily Pogorelc, Joshua Blue, Edward Nelson, and Dmitri Dover will lead additional Metropolitan Opera Summer Recitals at Central Park on Monday, June 15th, and Brooklyn Bridge Park on Wednesday, June 17th. Elderbrook and Tobiahs will perform a benefit concert at Central Park on Saturday, June 20th. Later in the month, Central Park will host "New York Sings Yiddish: Passing the Torch to a New Generation" on Monday, June 22nd, Black Country, New Road, Horsegirl, and Sharp Pins on Wednesday, June 24th, and Laurie Anderson with Sexmob on Friday, June 26th, all free events. Dreamland Pride with Purple Disco Machine, Kungs, and Dani Brasil will be a benefit event on Sunday, June 28th.

SHABAKA, Kokoroko, Omar, and Lovie will perform at Central Park on Wednesday, July 1st, in association with Giant Step and Blue Note Jazz Festival. Odd Mob will lead a benefit concert at Central Park on Friday, July 3rd. Spoon, Ratboys, and Bodega will play Central Park on Wednesday, July 8th, as part of the Subaru Music Series. Herbert Von King Park will host Duck Down Music Presents Heltah Skeltah and O.G.C. of Boot Camp Clik on Thursday, July 9th, and Mereba, Mack Keane, Arima Ederra, and Halfmoon BK on Friday, July 10th. Central Park will feature Shaggy The Yaad on Thursday, July 9th, and Nora en Pure Presents Purified on Friday, July 10th. MIKE's Young World will be at Herbert Von King Park on Saturday, July 11th.
