Former Blizzard Dev Creates 'Vibe Coded' Game Engine, Claims 93x Faster Development
Mark Kern, a former Blizzard Entertainment developer, has unveiled a new game engine for his project, Em-8er. He describes the engine as "vibe coded," a term he uses to highlight its AI-assisted development process. Kern asserts that this innovative approach has dramatically improved development efficiency, making it 93 times faster than using Unreal Engine.
Kern's Kun-Zhi Engine, named after a Tibetan term meaning "Ground of all," integrates AI to streamline game creation. The engine's core is built using C and some Elixir, with Vulkan handling graphics. This AI-first methodology, according to Kern, is crucial for rapid prototyping and iterative development. The project has garnered support from major tech companies like AMD and Razer, adding credibility to its claims.
