Esteemed directors including Magnus Von Horn, known for “The Girl with the Needle,” Emanuel Pârvu, director of “Three Kilometres to the End of the World,” and Felipe Gálvez, celebrated for “The Settlers,” are set to present their new film endeavors. Carine Tardieu also joins this distinguished group of eight filmmakers, whose projects will be pitched to an exclusive consortium of private investors at the Cannes Marché du Film’s Investors Circle.
The Investors Circle: A Confluence of Art and Finance
The Marché du Film has established this initiative to forge connections between private capital and a handpicked array of sophisticated film projects. The event will highlight eight developing feature films, prioritizing European filmmakers whose prior works have garnered significant international acclaim at film festivals. The financial scope for these projects varies, from approximately €1 million to upwards of €12 million.
Event Details and Strategic Focus
The Investors Circle is scheduled to unfold on May 16 and 17 at the picturesque Plage des Palmes. Alexandra Zakharchenko, the program's head, emphasized the careful curation of this year’s selection. The aim is to include projects at diverse stages of development and financing, encompassing a wide spectrum of genres and storytelling approaches. A particular emphasis has been placed on projects that are primed for private investment, exhibiting both strong market potential and creative distinction, with a notable increase in sophisticated genre-driven works.
The Rigorous Selection Process
The 2026 project selection was meticulously managed by Alexandra Zakharchenko and an annually refreshed committee of industry luminaries. This year's committee included Céline Dornier from IPR.VC, Jean des Forêts, founder and CEO of Petit Film, Alice Laffillé, Vice President of International Sales at FilmNation Entertainment, and Anthony Muir, Senior Executive for International Co-Productions at Film i Väst.
