Paramount and Spyglass Announce 'Heart Eyes 2' for 2028 Release
Paramount Pictures is forging ahead with the sequel to its romantic slasher hit, 'Heart Eyes,' announcing a release date of February 11, 2028, just in time for Valentine's Day weekend. This follow-up project will see Paramount and Spyglass Media Group collaborating on co-production and co-financing, with Paramount also taking charge of the film's international distribution. The original film achieved a global box office of $33.1 million, proving the concept's appeal.
Filmmaker Josh Ruben is confirmed to direct 'Heart Eyes 2' and will co-write the screenplay alongside Darcy Fowler. The narrative for the sequel is based on a story by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy, who also contributed to the first installment's script with Phillip Murphy. Landon, in collaboration with Divide/Conquer, will serve as a producer for the upcoming movie.
While the return of original stars Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt is yet to be confirmed, the production team aims for a more relaxed schedule compared to the first film. Ruben previously noted the rapid turnaround for the initial 'Heart Eyes,' which went from a Valentine's Day 2024 pitch to a theatrical release a year later. This time, the extended production window leading up to the 2028 release date offers ample time for development and filming, ensuring a polished product for audiences.
The continuation of the 'Heart Eyes' franchise reflects the entertainment industry's ongoing commitment to delivering captivating stories. The blend of romance and suspense in this slasher series demonstrates how creative storytelling can resonate with viewers, promising further excitement and intrigue in its next chapter.
