Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are poised to headline the voice cast for Illumination's new animated feature, 'Not Alone,' a significant announcement made at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This collaboration marks Chalamet's inaugural venture into feature-length animated filmmaking, with both stars taking on pivotal roles in this highly anticipated Universal production.

Chalamet will portray Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic, while Gomez steps into the role of Fran, an astro-botanist tasked with developing a revolutionary plant-fueled rocket. Their characters' lives take an unexpected turn when three small, mischievous, yet endearing aliens, voiced by British comedians Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou, seek refuge in Joe's home to escape the bumbling law enforcement officer, Zandro, voiced by Brett Goldstein. The aliens quickly realize that Fran's innovative rocket offers their only path back to safety, setting the stage for a heartwarming and humorous adventure.

'Not Alone' is scheduled to premiere on April 16, 2027. The film is co-directed by Eric Guillon, known for his work on 'Despicable Me 3' and character designs for 'Minions' and 'The Secret Life of Pets.' He is joined by Claire Dodgson, who has edited several Illumination hits, and Jonathan Del Val, co-director of 'Minions: The Rise of Gru.' The production is helmed by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, with Joy Poirel, Richard Curtis, and David Distenfeld serving as executive producers. This stellar team promises to deliver another captivating animated experience for audiences worldwide.

The convergence of talent and creative vision behind 'Not Alone' exemplifies the boundless possibilities within animation. It highlights how art and storytelling can unite diverse voices to explore themes of discovery, friendship, and ingenuity. Such ventures not only entertain but also inspire, pushing the boundaries of imagination and fostering a deeper appreciation for collaborative artistic endeavors.
