by : Shonda Rhimes

Wonder Project is making a significant entry into the realm of children's entertainment, having greenlit two full seasons of their upcoming series, 'Fluff Piece.' This strategic move marks a new chapter for the company, focusing on content that not only entertains but also enriches young audiences. The show aims to instill crucial skills in media literacy and critical thinking through a vibrant blend of music, dynamic movements, and compelling narratives.

The new children's program, 'Fluff Piece,' is the brainchild of talented creators Sylvia Brindis, Shane Snow, and Brian Donegan, with Brindis also stepping into a starring role. Wonder Project has committed to producing a total of 22 episodes for the series. The inaugural season, consisting of 10 episodes, is scheduled to launch on July 9, with new installments to be released twice a week, promising a steady stream of engaging content for its target audience.

The core objective of 'Fluff Piece' is to equip young viewers with essential media literacy and critical thinking abilities. The narrative centers on Fiona Flash, an enthusiastic reporter played by Brindis, and her animated canine companion and photographer, Fluff. Together, they embark on whimsical investigations into local mysteries and rumors. From tracking down a mythical rooftop Pegasus to deciphering the enigma of rainbow-colored puddles, the duo meticulously gathers clues, verifies facts, and uncovers that appearances can often be deceiving. The show actively encourages its young audience, affectionately termed 'Newshounds,' to join in the investigative process, nurturing their curiosity, analytical skills, and the invaluable habit of asking pertinent questions.

Adding to its educational and entertainment value, each episode of 'Fluff Piece' will feature a unique original song, with over 15 distinct compositions integrated into the first season alone. These musical pieces are crafted by Devin Delaney of Noisefloor. The series further elevates its artistic presentation through choreographed musical sequences developed by Xavier Nuñez of The Joffrey Ballet, showcasing performances by dancers from The Joffrey Ballet Chicago.

Tristen Tuckfield, head of content acquisition at Wonder Project, expressed immense enthusiasm for 'Fluff Piece,' highlighting its unique blend of humor, imagination, and educational depth. The creative team, including Brindis, Snow, and Donegan, are commended for developing a world that families will cherish and revisit. Brindis, a parent herself, emphasized the personal motivation behind creating a show that promotes the pursuit of truth with kindness and curiosity—values she and Snow aspire to impart to their own child. The series is produced by The Mad Ones Productions and leverages Unreal Engine technology, promising high-quality animation and visual storytelling.

The series creators, Brindis, Snow, and Donegan, also contribute as writers, with Brindis, Snow, and Robert O'Neill taking on executive producer roles. Donegan serves as a producer alongside Brandon XIV, Nick Bartlett, Erica Duffy, and Jessica Black. Cory Coken, Jamie Vanadia, and Bryen Hensley are co-executive producers, and David “Big” Krause is a co-producer. This collaborative effort underlines a strong commitment to delivering a high-quality production aimed at enriching the lives of children. The show's premise of encouraging young minds to question, explore, and understand the world around them positions it as a valuable addition to children's educational programming.
